Lipid Chemistry
The Golden Carrier: Mediterranean Olive Oil as a Pure Cellular Delivery System

Why extra-virgin olive oil is not a filler in Vague, but the very mechanism that delivers active compounds across the lipid bilayer.
Most topical formulations fail not because their actives are weak, but because their actives never reach the cell. Olive oil's particular ratio of oleic acid and squalene mirrors the composition of human sebum almost exactly, which is why it passes through the stratum corneum with minimal resistance.
A carrier that is itself active
Olive oil is not pharmacologically inert. Its polyphenols — oleocanthal, hydroxytyrosol, oleuropein — exert anti-inflammatory effects in their own right. In Vague, olive oil simultaneously delivers the other nine ingredients and contributes to vascular relaxation.
Single-origin, single-pressing
We use only Chetoui-cultivar olive oil from the Cap Bon peninsula, harvested by hand and pressed within four hours. Anything older oxidises; anything blended dilutes the polyphenol signal.
