Natural Preservation: The Role of Organic Beeswax in Binding Pure Bio-Actives

Beeswax is not packaging — it is the structural matrix that keeps a 10-oil formulation stable, breathable, and free from synthetic preservatives.
A formula composed entirely of oils requires a thickening agent that does not introduce water, alcohol, or synthetic emulsifiers. Beeswax is the only candidate that satisfies all three constraints while remaining biologically benign.
A microcapsule, in effect
Once warmed by the skin, beeswax forms a semi-permeable film that releases the underlying oils gradually. This is what gives Vague its multi-hour activity profile — and what makes the use of synthetic preservatives unnecessary.
Sourced from the Mediterranean basin
Our beeswax comes from certified organic apiaries in northern Tunisia. We test every batch for pesticide residues and propolis content, because the wax inherits everything the bees encountered.
